Hotel properties in China make great progress in recent years with the booming of China Tourism; many international brands like Hyatt, Sheraton, Kempinski, Marriott, Shangri-La, Hilton, Four Seasons, Holiday Inn, etc has built their chains in major cities of China.

Except the luxurious hotels (four/ five stars), budget hotels, youth hostels and farmhouse or inns offer diverse choices for accommodations in China. Hotel Star ratings in China are assessed by China National Tourism Bureau with very strict criteria. Generally, brand hotels in big cities are more luxurious and comfortable but hard to find in small cities; while some budget hotels in China also clean and safe to stay.

Non-smoking rooms are available in many hotels, but you need to check and an early book is recommended; for couples bring with children, the rooms sharing and the fees would be complicated since rules vary in different hotels, generally, a baby cot and breakfast is provided free of charge for a child under 2 years; child above 12 years will be charged as adults; extra fees will be occurred if you want to add extra beds in the room.

Checkout sometimes takes longer time since the hotel needs to check the room after you leave; if you want an early check-in or late check out, just contact the hotel or travel agent, which can possibly be arranged.
