Guangxi+Guizhou Minority Adventure

Day 1 Arrival  Guilin

Transfer: by plane for economy class – own arrangement
Program: Be me on arrival and transfer to hotel. Rest of the time is free at leisure.

Day 2 (B, L, D) Yangshuo – Longji

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: After breakfast, drive 2 hours to Longji in the “Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces” which are a collection of paddy fields that cover hill after hill providing a wonderfully scenic backdrop to the region. From car park at the foot, you will walk 30 minutes to the Ping’an Zhuang ethnic village on and have a short rest in the hotel. After lunch, you will set out to explore the surrounding rice terraces, stopping off at viewpoints 1 and 2. Take a free walk in the village before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3 (B, L, D) Longji – Chengyang

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: After breakfast at the hotel you will set off on a 2 hour walking tour to Ancient Zhuang Village, where you can see how the hill tribe people live in these scenic hills. Return to you lodge. After lunch at hotel, you will descend to the car park and drive to Chengyang, via Sanjiang. The drive will take about 2 hours. On arrival you will check into your guest house (basic room with bathroom ensuite) beside the Wind & Rain Bridge and have the rest of afternoon to explore the village.

Day 4 (B, L, D) Chengyang – Zhaoxing

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: After breakfast you will join your guide for a walk around this picturesque village taking in the Drum Towers, and the famous Wind & Rain Bridges. Later you will walk out in the surrounding countryside to see the life of the local farmers. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant.
After lunch you will be transferred by car to the village of Zhaoxing. The drive will take around 3 to 4 hours, subject to road conditions. On arrival you will check into your hotel and have the remainder of the afternoon to explore Zhaoxing.

Day 5 (B, L, D) Zhaoxing

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: After breakfast you will set off to visit Tang’an Village which is a Dong village a short drive from Zhaoxing. This village has been called the first ecological museum of the Dong people and here you will learn about their customs and lifestyle. Later there will be moderate walk of around 2 hours between this and another of the Dong villages. Afterwards return to Zhaoxing for lunch. In the afternoon, you will take a walk in the Village.

Day 6 (B, L, D) Zhaoxing – Congjiang – Rongjiang

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: Today, you will drive to Rongjiang. En route, visit a very special and old Miao ethnic village. The villagers here still practice their unique traditions which date back to the Qin Dynasty. The traditional costume of Basha men has been likened to that of the ancient samurai and they are rarely seen without a knife or a spear. There are two big local markets on this road, on market days (every 5 days), ethnic people from villages in the area come here to sell their local produce and buy some goods for everyday use. It’s also a good time to learn what and how ethnic people dress. Afternoon visit Dalidong, another well kept Dong Village in a remote valley. Transfer to your hotel in Rongjiang in late afternoon.

Day 7 (B, L, D) Rongjiang – Guiyang

Transfer: by private vehicle
Program: This morning, you will be driven about 1.5hrs to Pingyong Village. This village is located at a conjunction of several minority people: Shui People to the south and north, Dong people to the east, Miao People to the west. The Pingyong market will offer good opportunities for you to learn difference of the ethnic peoples. Drive back to Rongjiang in early afternoon and from there continue to Guiyang on highway (about 3hrs).

Day 8 (B) Guiyang departure

by plane – own arrangement
Program: Morning visit to Qingyan Ancient Town. Transfer to airport for flight to next destination.
