Picked up from your hotel in Yangshuo and drive 40 minutes to Xingping, an ancient town by the Li River. You will climb up a hill nearby to the top for a bird viewing of Li River and the picturesque hills on both sides. This is also a famous shooting spot for photographers, and it might be your turn to get a good picture. Descend in late morning and take a walk alone the slab stone street before having lunch in local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will take ferry to a nearby fishing village to experience local fishermen’s lifestyle. Transfer back to Yangshuo in the afternoon.
Suggested evening excursion: Cormorant Fishing Show. Cormorant fishing is unique in China. This way of fishing has been used for hundreds of years already. You will view this interesting activity with a boat ride on Li River.
After breakfast, you will take an escorted biking tour to the countryside near Yangshuo. You will ride among lime stone peaks and rice fields, together with a visit to local farmer’s. At Moon Hill, you can climb up to the top for a bird view of the small town. Lunch will be taken in local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will go for a leisurely bamboo rafting down Yulong River (about 1.5hrs).
Suggested evening excursion: A Son et Lumiere Show Impressions of Liu Sanjie is highly recommended. The show creatively combines the classical Chinese musicals, ethnic groups’ Culture and the fishing lights, bamboo boats and cormorant fisherman performing with the Li River and limestone pinnacles as the backdrop.
Today, you will visit another small village called Shitou Cheng (or Stone Village). The name comes from the stone buildings in the village. It is 25km north of Yangshuo and lies on a small mountain. Four main entrances and 18 inner gates are still remains in the village. It is once a military fort, but no record of when and why was built. You will take a walking tour for about 2.5hrs to explore the village. Transfer back to Yangshuo or Guilin after the visit.
